Plans, free trial and billing
What you get, what it costs, and how to change it.
The short version
- Every new account gets 30 days of Builder free, with no card. When it ends you move to the free Starter plan unless you choose a paid one.
- Choose a plan during the trial and you keep your free days. Your card is collected now and first charged the day your trial ends.
- Nothing you entered is ever deleted when a trial ends, a plan is cancelled or a payment fails.
- Manage everything in Plan & billing, in the account menu.
The plans
- Starter (free): 10 holdings, 2 accounts, unlimited manual trades, 5 statement and screenshot imports a month, returns, allocation and dividends received.
- Builder: 50 holdings and 5 accounts, the 12-month expected income calendar, sector allocation and benchmarks, weekly income email and dividend alerts, and 10 statement and screenshot imports a month.
- Planner: everything in Builder with no holding or account limits, plus shared access for a partner, custom benchmarks, paper accounts, the Planning tab (project your portfolio and income), and unlimited statement and screenshot imports.
Prices (plus applicable taxes): Builder CA$5.99/month or CA$49/year in Canadian dollars, and $4.99/month or $39/year in US dollars. Planner is CA$12.99/month or CA$99/year (CAD), and $9.99/month or $79/year (USD), at its founding price until April 30, 2027. Canadian billing addresses pay in Canadian dollars and US addresses in US dollars. Paid plans are open in Canada and the United States for now; the free plan works everywhere.
The free trial
- It starts when you create your account and runs 30 days. You don’t need a card.
- If you choose a paid plan with at least two days left, you aren’t charged until the trial ends. With less than two days left, or after it has ended, you’re charged straight away.
- There is one trial per account. It isn’t offered again after you’ve had it.
Renewal and taxes
Paid plans renew automatically every month or year until you cancel. Prices don’t include tax: applicable taxes are worked out from your billing address and added at checkout. Invoices are in Manage billing.
Changing your plan
- Free to paid: open Plan & billing and choose Builder or Planner.
- Between Builder and Planner, or monthly and yearly: in Plan & billing choose Change plan. The new price and any adjustment are shown before you confirm.
- Back to free: choose Manage billing and cancel. You keep your plan until the period you paid for ends, then move to Starter.
If you drop to Starter
Nothing is deleted. Starter includes 2 accounts and 10 holdings. If you have more, you keep everything you already have and its prices keep updating, but you can’t add more accounts or holdings until you upgrade or free up room.
If a payment fails
Your plan stays on for 7 days while the payment is retried. Update your card in Manage billing during that time to keep it. After 7 days the paid features pause until the payment is fixed, and you’re on Starter in the meantime. Your data stays exactly as it was.
